Incredible weather allowed us to kick off the school year with some fabulous activities in outdoor ed’. With our main focus being on climbing and team building, we have also enjoyed visiting some great locations to hone our skills. Year 5 and 6 got things underway with a visit to the impressive Humphrey Head on the south Cumbrian coastline. A first time here and and also at sea cliff traversing for us; it was a big hit! Year 3 and 4 children also enjoyed bouldering at Carrock rocks in the early weeks of term. All of our upper school groups have had the opportunity to challenge themselves a little more ‘vertically’ too, with roped climbing visits to Sandale crag for Years 5 and 6, and Martindale crag for Years 3 and 4. Although we incorporate team building into pretty much all of our activities, it’s always very interesting to run team building challenges as a stand-alone session, which each of our upper school groups completed. Great fun, with lots emphasis on communication, collaboration and problem-solving. We were pretty impressed with all of the children and how they worked together! We look forward to orienteering after half term.
