U9 Tennis Championship

Penrith Tennis Club played host to our U9 tennis championship last week.

The blue skies above and excellent facilities made it a fantastic afternoon of friendly competition. The boys and girls were split and placed into small groups. Following a round robin format the winner from each group progressed through to the semi-finals. In the girls’ competition, Lexi, Evie and Zahren all went unbeaten in their respective groups, with the eventual final being played out between Evie and Lexi. Lexi was crowned girls’ champion following a 24 -12 win.

In the boys’ competition Matthew, Luca, Louis, Samuel and Piers all went unbeaten in the group stages. The semi-finals were a real treat to watch, with long skilful rallies impressing all. Samuel and Piers made it to the final and put on a real showcase of their skill. Piers emerging victorious 27-20.  It was great to see such high levels of sportsmanship and excellent ability out on the courts. The Year 5 & 6s will be hoping for similar weather when then they take their trip to Penrith Tennis Club.
