U11 hard ball cricket

Giggleswick A 229 v 327 Hunter Hall A

Giggleswick provided a stunning backdrop for a what was a great afternoon of cricket.  Having chosen to field, Giggleswick got off to a strong start. With each team starting on 200 runs, their first pair pushed the score onto 230 with relative ease. But from this point onwards our bowlers and tight fielding ensured they made little headway. Kai, Joe, Dylan and Ross all took wickets with the ball and ensured we ended the innings on top.

Kai and Ben were up first with the bat and soon found themselves up against it. Three quick wickets saw our total fall to 185, but they showed resolve and chipped away with several singles.  Dylan and Harry then did their bit to steady the ship, and with Dylan striking several boundaries, we were soon heading towards the 230 total. Joe and Kenny then batted superbly, without the loss of any wickets, to establish a 20 run lead. From this point onwards, Max B showed his class to stroke boundary after boundary and put more than 40 runs onto the score board. Matthew should also be congratulated for several impressive strokes of his own. With the pressure, by now, well and truly off, Ross and Toby finished the innings with style. Ross launching several boundaries of his own; an exemplary innings with the bat.  It was a comprehensive win and an impressive team performance.
