Hunter Hall U9 Football & Netball Festival.

Last Friday afternoon 8 schools came together from around the Eden Valley for an afternoon of football. North Lakes, Beaconside, Appleby, Long Marton, Kirkby Stephen, Clifton and Bolton, joined Hunter Hall for some 5-a-side action with the aim of developing all our young players.

Having split the schools into two groups each team played in a round robin format. The Hunter Hall team played some great football; Casey and Piers both leading the attack and netting plenty of goals. Matthew and Hugo were combative in their defensive duties, while Harrison made some good saves to keep out the opposition.

Hunter Hall 4 v 1 Long Marton,

Hunter Hall 2 v 3 Appleby,

Hunter Hall 3 v 1 Bolton

These results ensured the team finished top of their group (on goal difference). Hunter Hall were then paired against Kirkby Stephen who had finished 2nd in their respective group. Three breakaway goals saw Kirkby Stephen earn the victory. On this occasion the Kirkby goal keeper pulled off a string of sensational saves to keep Piers and Casey off the score sheet. A final friendly against Beaconside ensured the boys finished the afternoon on a positive note. Ezra was in the right place to score his first goal for Hunter Hall- an amazing achievement for a Year 2 playing against boys 2 years his elder. Kirkby Stephen 3 v 0 Hunter Hall, Beaconside 1 v 4

Hunter Hall Netball

Friday saw the U9s in their netball kit ready to play against several schools from the area. Kirkby Stephen, Appleby and Long Marton travelled for the festival and the afternoon was filled with great play from all involved as well as superb sportsmanship and determination. The Hunter Hall team played some fantastic netball with Matilda, Antonia and Minnie intercepting and passing around the court with great precision. Annie and Ted were, as always, brilliant at defending the oppositions post and tried their best to stop goals going in. Anna and Zara are so fast in the centre court that it meant when the ball was travelling they were always there to help and move it into another great position! Well done U9 netball team.
