Climbing Success!

Our climbing teams were back at Eden Rock, Carlisle today, following strong performances from both boys and girls in the preliminary rounds of the Cumbrian schools’ competition in January

The finals followed a similar formula, whereby competitors had to tackle a total of 20 different challenges, set out across the 5 different zones throughout the day, with maximum points awarded for a successful first attempt, decreasing over three attempts available. Deprived of some our original team through various foot and ankle injuries, we drafted in a wave of worthy replacements in both teams. All of our twelve competitors competed exceptionally well and battled both mental and physical exertion to gain as many points as possible for their respective teams (there were some tired arms in the latter climbs!).

After the scores had been tallied and the presentations began, we were thrilled to hear Hunter Hall called out, as the girls secured a wonderful third place overall and capped a great day. Each received a third place certificate and chalk ball - no doubt some will be asking for a chalk bag to go with them! Well done to all of our competitors and we look forward to competing again next year.
