We’re recruiting!

The Board of Governors is now seeking to recruit a new Headteacher to take Hunter Hall forward into its fourth decade.

Why apply?

Rated ‘Excellent’ by ISI (2022), Hunter Hall is a school like no other. Housed in 19th century farm buildings in the Eden Valley on the outskirts of Penrith, we provide children with the space and support they need to learn, grow and become the best they can be. An independent school for boys and girls aged 3 to 11 years we offer a different approach to preparatory education.

Our dedicated subject specialist teachers work together to ensure every child reaches their potential. Inspiring them to learn in a supportive, caring, homely environment. Everything we do at Hunter Hall School has one purpose – to enable children to discover and embrace the joy of learning.

A small school that achieves big results. We’ve some of the smallest class sizes in Cumbria so our children receive the time, attention and guidance they need to flourish. Our 11 year olds consistently achieve outstanding examination results year- on-year and, because we’re not tied, our leavers go on to wide range of high quality secondary schools across the county and beyond.

Hunter Hall School provides a unique learning environment. Bringing together modern teaching techniques in a tranquil rural setting we are continually investing in our facilities in order to stimulate young minds. And, because the school is situated next to a working farm and only a short distance from Lake District National Park, our children have regular access to a wide variety of outdoor learning and activities.

The Board of Governors is now seeking to recruit a new Headteacher to take Hunter Hall forward into its fourth decade. After ten very successful years, the current Headteacher, Donna Vinsome, is leaving to pursue a life outside of Education. Throughout this period the school has grown in numbers, developed academically and established a reputation for excellence. Working alongside the supportive Board, this is a superb opportunity for a new incumbent to really drive forward, develop and shape the school with autonomy, making it happy, healthy and resilient for years to come.
