What a busy half term pre-school and reception have had, not only have they been learning all about celebrations, but they have also been preparing for their nativity.
They kicked off their learning by exploring bonfire night, Remembrance Day and Diwali. The children loved creating firework art, making poppies and meeting Maree Sowerby, a past Hunter’s mum, who is a Hindu and came into school to talk to the children about her Diwali celebrations. She also decorated the children’s hands and showed them some traditional outfits.
As the term has progressed, the children have also learned their songs for the nativity,’Baarmy Bethlehem’. ‘Baa,Baa Boogie’ was a particular favourite as it was a real hip-wiggler. It set the fun tone of the play. We were all so proud of their performance. Such resilience and courage was shown.
As always, they’ve enjoyed exploring the forest on a Friday, and even had a special visitor in Father Christmas. He came to give the children a gift. As well as that magical visit, the children took a trip the Rowley’s Christmas Tree Farm, which was captured in a beautiful hoarfrost. The children took a walk through the woods and looked at the Christmas trees that were growing. The visit was topped off hot chocolate and marshmallows by the fire.
What a fantastic and magical term we’ve had.
We are so proud of the children and wish you all a very happy Christmas.
