The Head
I joined the school as Head at Easter, 2009, after six years as a governor. During that time, I was Deputy Head at St. Bees School, with specific responsibility for academic matters and university entrance.
I had previously worked in industry, with four years in a research role and five in production management. My involvement as governor did give me some insight into Hunter Hall and my wife, who is a Head in Whitehaven and has spent her entire career in the primary sector, told me that working with younger children would be great fun, but also more of a challenge than I had previously experienced.
My impression after seven terms is that she was correct in both respects – though especially in the former!
